Synchronizing
Synchronizing is the term used in Simplify that designates putting a project in Simplify out there on the web. When you synchronize pages, you make sure that these pages can now be accessed from the Internet.
Synchronizing a page
If you have finished editing the content of your page, you may wish to synchronize it with your online server so other people can see it. To do so:
- Click on the Synchronize button at the top of your page when you are done with editing.
- A pop up will ask you whether you wish to save the content of your page before synchronizing. Select Yes if you wish to save your changes or No if you wish to synchronize your page without your changes.

- You will then be prompted to specify where you want to synchronize and what auxiliary files you wish to synchronize.

- If this is the first time you synchronize, click
here to see what you should do.
- If you have synchronized before, select which folder you wish to synchronize to by checking the appropriate checkbox.
- In the checkboxes at the bottom of the pop up, you should choose what auxiliary files you wish to publish.
- The first checkbox "Synchronize the images, files, and CSS linked to the page(s)" should be checked if you wish to publish the CSS file, images, and other files linked to the page you are publishing. If you uncheck it, only the HTML content of your page will be published. Images that you have added for example, will not be synchronized.
- The second checkbox "Synchronize all the images, files, and CSS of your website" should be checked if you wish to publish ALL the auxiliary files on your server. If you have a lot of files, this may take some time. Do not check this box unless you want to specifically synchronize all files to make sure they are online.
- Click on Next once you are done.
- If the page is successfully synchronized, you will get the resulting links so that you can click it and view your page online.
Synchronizing multiple pages
You can synchronize multiple pages at a time to save time. To do that:
- From the Control Panel, click on Edit.
- The File Manager tab will open with the files in the root folder displayed.
- From the File Manager panel in the left pane, click on the folder whose pages you wish to publish. The selected folder will turn green.
- The pages in the folder will appear on the right part of your window.
- You can select multiple pages and click on the Synchronize button at the top of your screen.

- The first checkbox "Synchronize the images, files, and CSS linked to the page(s)" should be checked if you wish to publish the CSS file, images, and other files linked to the pages you are publishing. - Click on Next once you are done.
- If the pages are successfully synchronized, you will get the resulting links so that you can click it and view the pages online.
Synchronizing files and images
You can synchronize files and images without the need to synchronize the pages that include these files. Simplify has found that this is especially helpful when you replace an image and wish to publish only this image for example. To do that:
- From the Control Panel, click on Edit.
- The File Manager tab will open with the files in the root folder displayed.
- From the File Manager panel in the left pane, click on the folder that contains the files or images you wish to publish. The selected folder will turn green.
- The files and images in the folder will appear on the right part of your window.
- You can select multiple files and images and click on the Synchronize button at the top of your screen.
- You will then be prompted to specify where you want to synchronize.

- If this is the first time you synchronize, click here to see what you should do.
- If you have synchronized before, select which folder you wish to synchronize to by checking the appropriate checkbox.
- In the checkboxes at the bottom of the pop up, you should choose what auxiliary files you wish to publish.
- The first checkbox "Synchronize the images, files, and CSS
linked to the page(s)" should be NOT be checked.
- If
the files are successfully synchronized, you will get the resulting
link so that you can click it and view the online website.
Synchronizing for the first time
If you are synchronizing for the first time, your live folder may be empty. You will need to place the publish information to allow you to synchronize to your live folder/online website. To fill in the information:
- From the Control Panel, click on Edit.
- The File Manager tab will open with the files in the root folder displayed.
- From
the File Manager panel in the left pane, click on the folder that
contains the files or images you wish to publish. The selected folder
will turn green.
- The content of the folder will appear on the right part of your window.
- Select files you wish to synchronize and click on the Synchronize button at the top of your screen.
- You will get a pop up window.
- The Live Folder checkbox will be disabled and will have a link next to it "Click here to enter hosting info". Click on the link.

- Another window will open prompting you to enter the publish information.

- If you have your publish information ready, fill in the required publish information and click on Next.
- If you don't know what your publish information is, fill in the name and email of the person you think does and we will send a custom email on your behalf asking for the information.
- After you have filled your publish information, a list of folders under Publish Folders will appear. Select the folder where you wish your project and its pages to be published.

- Click on Next.
